The Foundation anticipates that competition for both grant and fellowships awards this year will be especially intense. The amount of funds available for awards is somewhat reduced due to a decrease in funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and reduced return on the Foundation’s investments. Schizophrenia Society of Ontario Award WinnersThe OMHF was pleased to administered a grant competition for the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO). The peer review committee assembled by the Foundation made recommendations for funding to the SSO Board; The SSO Board has made the following awards: Tam Grant Fund - Jeff Daskalakis Helen Pfohol Fund - Sean Kidd and Simone Vigod 2011-2012 New AwardsThe Foundation approved 23 new studentship awards for 2011-2012. (Click here for a list of studentship awards) Mission StatementThe Foundation aims to promote the mental health of people living in Ontario, to prevent mental illness and to improve diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. This is done primarily by supporting the professional development of researchers and by funding excellent mental health research. The Foundation looks to people with mental disorders, providers and the research community to identify important and innovative areas of research. Application Deadlines for the Year 2011 Competitions: application material will not be accepted after the deadlines.
